Car Park Watch Scheme

Formally launched in 2003 Car Park Watch went from strength to strength. Responding to an initial crime wave, local residents of the Talybont area campaigned to set up a scheme to stem a devastating crime wave which was affecting the local residents’ normal daily living and was threatening local tourist businesses.

With the input of Powys Police, the Forestry Commission and the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority the present day scheme was born. The scheme employs a high profile vehicle and uniformed volunteers to patrol two of the most heavily used tourist areas within the central area of the National Park. On average volunteers to this scheme donate 130 hours per month and have cut out vehicle crime by an estimated 85%!  The Scheme is currently suspended.
