Our Strategic Documents set the framework for a number of more detailed strategies which we produce to cover specific issues.

Planning and Rights of Way

Development Plans Policies and plans which guide the development of land in the National Park.

Rights of Way Improvement Plan (RoWIP)  A review of the condition of the public path network, how it is managed and how it can be improved for all legal users. Identifies the necessary staff and financial resources to improve and maintain this network.

Disability

Disability  Equality Assessment Surveys: Produced by officers of the Authority in order to assess that the Authority has taken account of the needs of disabled people.

The Ombudsman Report

Ombudsman Report - Mr O

The investigation of a complaint by Mr O against Brecon Beacons National Park Authority and Powys County Council.  A report by the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales into the Authority's handling of a planning application for a gypsy site.

Tourism

Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2007  A framework to ensure the successful development and management of sustainable tourism and of the visitor experience in the Park over the next five years and beyond.

Biodiversity

Local Biodiversity Action Plan  Produced by a partnership of local organisations and people with the aim of protecting and enhancing the biodiversity of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Walking Tourism Strategy A Strategy to develop and manage opportunities for visitors to enjoy walking in and around the Brecon Beacons National Park and to raise the profile of the Brecon Beacons as a walking destination of first choice. 

Green Dragon

Green Dragon Environmental Scheme Setting standards for how the Authority runs its business in line with principles of good environmental management and sustainability.

Interpretation

Interpretation Strategy 2007 A strategy to develop and sustainably manage the Park by raising visitor awareness of the importance of conservation and sustainable tourism and therefore influencing visitor behaviour.
